Established in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, they specialise in craft Scotch Whiskies. Hand selecting the finest, and often rarest, Scotch Whisky stocks from across all of Scotland’s Whisky regions and bottling them as the Distiller intended: At high alcohol strength, and without colouring or chill-filtration.

A Taste of Scotland

On a recent fishing trip into the highlands of Scotland, I can across a craft whisky distillery. Douglas Laing is a leading creator and purveyor of the finest Scotch Whisky with particular focus on artisanSmall Batch and Single Cask bottlings. A proud family business in its third generation, their goal is to continually exceed the expectations of their customers and consumers around the world by offering the most special, quality-driven and unique Scotch Whisky experience. So if you are looking for a gift with character, you will be proud to offer one of these Artisan Malts.

THE EPICUREAN

Douglas Laing’s The Epicurean Lowland Malt Scotch Whisky tells the story of a 1930s Glasgow man, a real cheeky chappy who was ever the life and soul of the party, and a real connoisseur of fine food and drink. A dram we describe as “city born and bred”, The Epicurean is a blend of some of the finest Lowland Malts; a marriage of the best that the East and the West of Scotland have to offer. This small batch bottling is proudly without colouring or chill-filtration and bottled at 46.2% ABV.

THE SCALLYWAG

Douglas Laing’s Scallywag is a Small Batch bottling created using only the finest Speyside Malts including – amongst others – Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes. Bottled at 46% alcohol strength and non chill-filtered, this Small Batch bottling has a distinct rich, dark colour – extracted from the many fine Spanish Sherry Butts used during maturation. In fact, we use 40% first-fill Sherry butts in the mix, and the result is a truly charming Malt with a richly spiced character, fused with vanilla (from the bourbon casks used), sweet stewed fruit, Christmas pudding, dark chocolate, zesty orange and sweet tobacco.

THE BIG PEAT

Douglas Laing’s Big Peat is a feisty Islay character with a sweet side. This is a small batch bottling, without colouring or chill-filtration and only contains Islay Malt Whiskies, including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and (even the now closed) Port Ellen to name but a few! Big Peat is fresh, salty and clean on the nose, with notes of sweet malts dried over peat. Typically Islay in flavour, the palate carries notes of ash, sweet tar, smoking chimneys and a subtle salty beach quality, with a long and lingering phenolic finish.
